Pretty self explanatory! We all love JRPGs, but what's your favourite series of all?

Ys is the most consistently enjoyable series for me, with FF at a close second
Also looking at all the options on this poll makes me wonder how many thousands of hours I must have spent finishing jrpg's

The only correct response is Mother, but whatever

Matt, would it be fair to list not just Persona, but SMT as well? SMT/Persona I think that's the one I'd go for - but honestly, it's torture deciding between these fantastic JRPGs and I'm bailing out ... NOW!

Truth be told unless I'm actually playing a SMT game I tend to forget they exist. Not that they're bad by any means, but I'm pretty devoted to Persona these days as Atlus' "great" JRPG franchise <_<.

Neptunia, just because it carries such huge personal significance to me. It's the primary reason I am the person I am today, and that I am into the things I am into. It's also why I am so very devoted to the idea of celebrating and enjoying overlooked, underappreciated, misunderstood and misrepresented franchises.
And I can partly blame Matt for this, as it was a podcast he appeared on a few years back talking about what he then referred to as "otaku games" that was one of the major catalysts for me feeling this way.

hahaha, I have a vague memory of that. Except I believe I was talking more about the Atelier series? :-P. That's the one I'd vote for if the polls let me vote in things anyway.
Oh God to I love Atelier. I discovered that series late with Atelier Rorona on the PS3, but haven't looked back since. The series is just beautiful. Plotlines that are charming and innocent, beautiful characters that are sweet, fun, funny or just plain lovely, and a general joyfulness that makes the games so distinct from so many other dark-and-serious JRPGs out there these days.
And at the same time the games don't indulge the silliness of the Hyperdimension series, which I love, but need to be in a very particular mood for. I can pick up an Atelier game at any time and just be happy.
I like games that make me happy >_>

Tough question. From the options listed, I'd default to Fire Emblem since I've played basically all that exist (and beat many several times over).
But then moststrange reminded me of Mother. Might not be prolific enough to be considered a staple series like FF, but they're still three brilliant games that somehow managed to improve massively with each sequel.

It sounds like Nintendo needs to get on with making a sequel one of these days ;-)

Neptunia definitely for me! I just like that it doesn't take itself seriously and pokes fun at itself all the time and if yo need a good laugh after a long day at work nep nep and the gang is the best place to turn to! Though I have to say compile heart games do tend to be my favourite apart from dark rose Valkyrie I just couldn't get into it however hard I tried! But I wish they would make another omega quintet it had a great battle system, I have just started to playing it again after a few years to get all the trophies!

I feel like Dark Rose was basically the "sequel" to Omega Quintet, in that it used a very similar combat system. I would love another OQ though... and lots more Fairy Fencer, while I'm getting requests in Pity you weren't a big fan of Dark Rose! It was a polarising one for sure.

Maybe I will have to give it another try I did get about halfway through the game and then if I recall rightly danganronpa v3 came out and well that's how I spent a lot of my free time after. However most of my free time at the moment is spent on future tone my brother has been a massive fan of the franchise forever and has always told me to play them and I never have, I'm now regretting that though it is nice starting off with the game having sooo many songs! Fairy fencer yes brilliant game. Also I loved monster monpiece with never having a bit I only came across it when it was released on steam and it was an awesome card game, was gutted the PC version had no multiplayer.
